Nov 9, 2025    Pastor Dr. Alton McKinley

đź“–PRIMARY TEXT:

Nehemiah 10:28–39

This is where the people sign the covenant — and then commit to living it.

🌟 SERMON BIG IDEA

Confession reconnects us.

Remembering strengthens us.

But covenant changes us.

God doesn’t just want us to sign the covenant — He wants us to live the covenant.

The blessing is in the obedience.

The transformation is in the follow‑through.

🔥 MAIN POINTS

1. A Covenant Requires Commitment, Not Convenience

Nehemiah 10 lists specific commitments:

We will obey

We will separate from sin

We will honor the Sabbath

We will support the house of God

2. A Covenant Requires Community, Not Isolation

The text says “all who separated themselves… joined with their brothers.”

They signed it together.

3. A Covenant Requires Sacrifice, Not Selfishness

The people committed to:

Bringing offerings

Supporting the temple

Giving firstfruits

Sustaining the work of God
